THE MISSION OF THE DECATUR FAMILY YMCA, AS A CHARITY, IS TO PROVIDE FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES, ESPECIALLY THOSE IN FINANCIAL NEED THROUGH PROGRAMS THAT BUILD HEALTHY SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY FOR ALL. PROGRAMS INCLUDE: CHILD CARE, AFTERSCHOOL, SUMMER CARE, RECREATION AND FITNESS FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES.

TO PROVIDE UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS TO JUNIOR AND SENIOR STUDENTS IN GOOD ACADEMIC STANDING IN THE COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT URBANA-CHAMPAIGN, ILLINOIS.

Childrens museums are participatory and allow visitors to interact with the exhibits (touching, exploring, manipulating), and many offer organized lessons for groups of school children that focus on one or more of the exhibits.
