THE LUCAS THEATRE PROVIDES THE COMMUNITY WITH A WIDE RANGE OF CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC PERFORMANCES, INCLUDING THEATRICALPRODUCTIONS, FILM SCREENINGS, AND MUSIC CONCERTS, THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THE LUCAS THEATRE IS A 1,200-SEAT, STATE-OF-THE-ART, HISTORIC THEATER THAT PROVIDES A PROFESSIONALLY-RUN VENUE SPACE FOR COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND EVENTS, INCLUDINGSAVANNAH PHILHARMONIC, SAVANNAH MUSIC FESTIVAL, SAVANNAH BALLET THEATRE, AND LOCAL SCHOOLS. IN ADDITION TO STATE-OF-THE-ART SOUND AND TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS, THE LUCAS THEATRE FEATURES ITS ORIGINAL, FULLY RESTORED 1925 WURLITZER PIPE ORGAN.

THE GEORGIA INFIRMARY IS RECOGNIZED AS THE FIRST HOSPITAL FOR AFRICAN-AMERICANS IN THE NATION. THE ORGANIZATION SERVES AS A DAY HEALTH PROVIDER FOR THE CHRONICALLY ILL, DISABLED, AND ELDERLY AND RENTS HOUSING FOR LOW AND MODERATE INCOME PERSONS.

THE SOCIETY CONDUCTS PROGRAMS FOR DAYTIME VISITORS, SITE IMPROVEMENTS OF HISTORIC LANDMARKS, PUBLICATIONS AND SPECIAL EVENING PROGRAMS.

WORKING FORESTS INITIATIVE (WFI) SEEKS TO ESTABLISH AND ADVANCE A COMMON UNDERSTANDING OF THE BROAD RANGE OF ENVIRONMENTAL, ECONOMIC, AND SOCIETAL BENEFITS GENERATED BY WORKING FORESTS, THE MANY SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS THEY PROVIDE, AND THE CRITICAL ROLE FORESTS PLAY AS A NATURAL CLIMATE SOLUTION.

Because of their endowments, they are focused primarily on grantmaking and generally do not actively raise funds or seek public financial support. These are the most common type of private foundation. They are generally endowed, usually from a single individual or family. Private foundations are considered family foundations if relatives or the original donor are still active on the board of trustees or in the operation of the foundation.

MISSION:

The goal of this organization is to provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn, become competitive in and enjoy the organized recreational activity, sport or game of their choice. These programs may be offered by local clubs devoted to a particular activity or sport; may provide individual or team coaching assistance or instruction, access to equipment and facilities, and uniforms, if necessary; and may sponsor or make arrangements for athletes to participate in amateur competitions, usually at the local or regional level, and provide officials for games. These events are generally for the enjoyment of the athletes and are not at a high enough competitive level to be considered spectator sports.

THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF THE COLONIAL DAMES OF AMERICA IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA IS A HISTORICAL SOCIETY WHOSE OBJECTIVE IS TO ENGAGE IN ACTIVITIES FOR HISTORICAL, PATRIOTIC, EDUCATIONAL, LITERARY, AND CHARITABLE PURPOSES.

MISSION IS TO FOCUS ON THE INTRODUCTION AND EDUCATION OF THE ART AND CULTURE OF WEST AND CENTRAL AFRICA AND TO START CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THE POWER, DIVERSITY, AND SPIRITUALITY OF AFRICAN ART TO ALL AUDIENCES.

MISSION:

THE PURPOSE OF THE SUBSIDIARY IS TO CONSULT, BUY, CONSTRUCT AND/OR DEVELOP STRUCTURES OF ALL KINDS IN FUTHERANCE OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING TO INCLUDE OFFICE BUILDINGS AND BUILDINGS, THE PREVENTION OF BLIGHT AND THE PROMOTION AND CREATION OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND REINVESTMENT.

The goal of this organization is to build, rehabilitate, manage and/or provide rental housing for low-income individuals and families, older adults and people with disabilities; or which make purchasable housing available to low or moderate income families by offering lower priced housing and/or affordable payment plans, by arranging for interest or mortgage subsidies or by involving eventual owners in the construction process (sweat equity).
