A GENEROUS GIFT OF $1,000,000 BY CHARLOTTE COLBY DANLY, HERSELF A GRADUATE OF LYME ACADEMY, ENABLED A SEARCH FOR A TEACHER TO CARRY FORWARD THE ACADEMYS DISTINGUISHED TRADITION IN THE FIELD OF SCULPTURE. A SEARCH COMMITTEE WAS FORMED TO CARRY OUT THE SEARCH, COMPRISED OF: MS. DANLY; BOARD MEMBER/ARTIST EILEEN EDER; BOARD CHAIR MICHAEL DUFFY; JORDAN SOKOL; ISRAELI SCULPTOR ERAN WEBER; AND THE FORMER HEAD OF THE SCULPTURE DEPARTMENT AT THE FLORENCE ACADEMY, ROBERT BODEM. AFTER REVIEWING A RICH POOL OF APPLICANTS, THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY CHOSE ACCLAIMED SCULPTOR CHAD FISHER TO BE THE CHARLOTTE COLBY DANLY SCULPTURE CHAIR AT LYME ACADEMY. THE FIRST COHORT OF FULL-TIME SCULPTURE STUDENTS COMMENCED THEIR STUDIES IN THE FALL OF 2023 UNDER MR. FISHERS TUTELAGE. IN MARCH OF 2023, THE ACADEMY HIRED A MANAGING DIRECTOR, WENDY BURY, TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR OVERSEEING THE DAILY OPERATIONS, AS WELL AS FOR STRATEGIC PLANNING INITIATIVES, COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND INSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT, AS THE ACADEM

AWARDING FOR HIGHER EDUCATION BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL TO RESIDENTS OF LYME AND OLD LYME.

MISSION:

The goal of this organization is to preserve and protect endangered land resources from indiscriminate development, destruction or decay and which manage the utilization of renewable and nonrenewable resources to ensure ongoing availability. Included are conservation of the nations forests, rangeland, vegetation, deserts, wild and scenic rivers and other wilderness areas and open land spaces; and reestablishment of areas that have been devastated by destructive activities such as strip mining or other destructive activities.

HIGH HOPES THERAPEUTIC RIDING, INC. (HIGH HOPES) IS A NONPROFIT CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION IN CONNECTICUT WHOSE MISSION IS FOSTER A VIBRANT COMMUNITY WHERE HORSE AND HUMAN INTERACTIONS IMPROVE LIVES. HIGH HOPES IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING EFFICIENT, SAFE, INNOVATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL THERAPEUTIC RIDING PROGRAMS TO INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES OF ALL AGES. HIGH HOPES WAS FOUNDED ON THE BELIEF THAT EXPERIENCING AND RIDING HORSES IN A SECURE, CHALLENGING AND COMPANIONABLE ENVIRONMENT WILL ACHIEVE THIS OBJECTIVE. THE FOCUS IS ON EACH PARTICIPANTS NEED TO ACHIEVE MEANINGFUL GAINS IN BALANCE, COORDINATION, STRENGTH, CONFIDENCE AND SELF-RESPECT.

The goal of this organization is to make available to members and their guests and facilities for recreational activities, sports and games. Also included are social clubs that provide opportunities for people to meet and socialize with their peers at dances, parties, picnics, barbecues and other companionable events; and special interest clubs which enable people to share hobbies or other interests with individuals with those same interests.

THE OLD LYME CEMETERY ASSOCIATION WAS INCORPORATED UNDER THE GENERAL LAWS OF THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT ON SEPTEMBER 21, 1860. THE PURPOSE OF THE ASSOCIATION IS TO HOLD AND CARRY ON THE CEMETERIES IN THE TOWN OF OLD LYME, CT. THE CEMETERIES CONTROLLED BY THE ASSOCAITION ARE: DUCK RIVER, LAYSVILLE, MEETING HOUSE HILL, CHAMPION IN BLACK HALL, CHAMPION IN SOUTH LYME, GRISWOLD, MILE CREEK AND RIVER BANK.

THE ORGANIZATION IDENTIFIES AND SATISFIES VARIOUS YOUTH NEEDS BY PROVIDING PROFESSIONAL GUIDANCE TO PROMOTE HEALTHY INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT AND HARMONIOUS INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES COUNSELING SERVICES AS WELL AS ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES TO YOUTHS TO AID IN THEIR PERSONAL GROWTH.

CAMP CLAIRE IS A FULL-SERVICE, RESIDENT COOPERATIVE EDUCATION SUMMER CAMP OPEN TO PERSONS AGES SEVEN THROUGH FOURTEEN AND PROVIDES A POSITIVE, NURTURING ENVIRONMENT THAT ENCOURAGES CURIOSITY AND CREATIVITY.

The goal of this organization are the residential options exclusively for older adults who want to have a simpler, maintenance-free lifestyle and enjoy the company of peers with common interests, or who require a moderate amount of support in the activities of daily living to maintain independent living.
