DIAKONIA HOUSING INC. IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION FORMED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NON-PROFIT STATUTES OF THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA. THE CORPORATION WAS FORMED FOR THE PURPOSE OF OPERATING A 61 UNIT COMMUNITY KNOWN AS COCALICO PLACE LOCATED IN EPHRATA, PENNSYLVANIA, WHICH PROVIDES HOUSING FOR LOW INCOME ELDERLY PERSONS PURSUANT TO SECTION 202 OF THE NATIONAL HOUSING ACT, AS AMENDED.

MISSION:

THE ORGANIZATION SPONSORS VOLUNTEER PROJECTS TO REPAIR HOMES OF PEOPLE IN NEED AND PUBLIC BUILDINGS LOCATED IN LOW TO MODERATE INCOME AREAS. THE PROJECTS INCLUDES A LARGE NUMBER OF SKILLED AND UNSKILLED VOLUNTEER LABORERS.

The goal of this organization is to build, rehabilitate, manage and/or provide rental housing for low-income individuals and families, older adults and people with disabilities; or which make purchasable housing available to low or moderate income families by offering lower priced housing and/or affordable payment plans, by arranging for interest or mortgage subsidies or by involving eventual owners in the construction process (sweat equity).
